DVD review - "Take Me to the River"

Just saw this great 2014 doc about the Memphis R&B music scene. Do you want to have a good time? Do you want to git it in your soul? Don't miss this one! Memphis gave us Hi Records with Willie Mitchell and Al Green, and Stax Records, with Otis Redding, Booker T., Rufus Thomas, the Staple Singers, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Charles Musselwhite, Bobby Rush, Issac Hayes, Sam & Dave, et al. This special teams some of the soul survivors with young rappers and even some teens studying at the Stax Academy for an unforgettable and joyous experience. I've got a 20-minute rule for movies; if it doesn't get interesting in that time, it gets shut off. In that respect, "Take Me To the River" hooked me with a duet with Otis Clay (65-70 years old) and 9 or 10-year old Lil P-Nut. Damn! Also, the last performances by Bobby Bland and amazing rhythm guitarist Charles "Skip" Pitts, who teaches a 17-year old some licks.
